This is an antique 19th Century James Parkes & Son microscope which is a very rare model to find in the market. The microscope is in good working order both mechanically and optically, and it is highly collectable.

  • Model: J. Parkes & Son, Patentees, Birmingham (marked on the microscope, see photo)
  • Applied plaque to case: Salt & Son, 21 Bull Street, Birmingham
  • Eyepieces: 2 epieces included
  • Objective lenses: 2 objective lenses included
  • Image focus: the eyepiece barrel can be pulled up and down within its holder frame for quick focus and a focus wheel on microscope body for fine focus.
  • Rotatable plano-concave mirror.
  • Solid metal construction: brass tube and case iron base
  • The stand can be reclined horizontally
  • Microscope weight: approx. 2kg (4.4 lb.) (approx. 3.3kg/7.2 lb. including mahogany case and accessories)
  • Comes in original mahogany case (no key): 295mm (L) x 180mm (W) x 100mm (H)

Note: The microscope is in working condition. Wear and tear to the metal surface and to the hard carry case appropriate with age. No slide clips above the stage.
