This metal eyepiece adaptor is specially made for the NIPON 20-60x70 spotting scope to make the scope fit standard 1.25" fixed power eyepieces.

To use this adaptor, you can remove the 20-60x zoom eyepiece from the main scope body (by turning the large fitting wheel at the very end of the zoom eyepiece anti-clockwise), then screw the adapter in its place. You can then put a 1.25" eyepiece into this adapter for your preferred observational purpose. For example, you can put a Plossl 16mm or 26mm eyepiece for long range observation, and use a Plossl 32mm or 40mm eyepiece for viewing targets at closer distances, such as archery or target shooting. These eyepieces are available from this shop here.

Dimensions:

  • Internal diameter: 1.25" (31.75mm)

  • Overall height: 21mm

  • Internal threads to fit the scope: M37x1mm (37mm thread diameter, 1mm thread pitch)

The pictures below illustrate how to use this eyepiece adapter on the Nipon 20-60x70 scope.

The structure of the eyepiece adapter

The adapter has 1.25" internal tube (about 16mm in height) for 1.25" eyepieces:

There are internal M37x1mm threads at the other end of the adapter for the connection of the Nipon 20-60x70 scope:

The height of the threaded section is around 5mm:

Instruction on how to use this adapter:
The Nipon 20-60x70 spotting scope comes with a 20-60x zoom eyepiece as shown in the picture below:

The zoom eyepiece can be removed from the main scope body by turning its fitting nut at the bottom anticlockwise.

(Note: when removing the zoom eyepiece, please do not the adjustable part of the zoom eyepiece, but just turn the largest metal ring which is tightly fixed next to the rubber surface of the scope body).

You can then screw the eyepiece adapter in this place:

A fixed power eyepiece (with 1.25" fitting diameter) can be put into the eyepiece adapter, for example, one of the PLOSSL eyepieces. The following picture shows a large PLOSSL 32mm eyepiece being fitted into the adapter as an example:

You can either make observation through the fixed power eyepiece, or attach a digital camera to a large eyepiece using a universal digital camera adapter or a DSLR camera adaptor which is available from this store. Follow this link to view the universal camera adapters

Note: Some scopes may have slightly smaller male thread diameter on the eyepiece base (eg. 35-36mm diameter). Since this type of eyepiece adapters with exact thread size can be difficult to find, you can still make use of this adapter by putting some soft materials (eg. cotton threads or duct tape) around the threaded section to secure the adapter on to the scope. This should achieve the same purpose of using different 1.25" eyepieces on your scope through this adapter.
